Aymeric Laporte is unlikely to be interested in a move to Tottenham Hotspur, the Daily Mail say.
The £57 million Manchester City central defender (BBC Sport) has emerged as a possible for target for Tottenham, as they discuss potential swap deals for Harry Kane.
Very few transfers actually look appealing for Spurs, if it comes at the cost of losing their star striker.
But the thought of having a defender of Laporte’s quality in their team is a promising prospect.
Unfortunately for Tottenham, it seems that the Mail have played down any chance of the transfer happening.
Laporte is apparently unlikely to be tempted to move to Spurs, despite the prospect of regular first-team football.
The French born defender has slipped down the pecking order at City this term, with John Stones and Ruben Dias being used ahead of him.
However, Tottenham do not have Champions League or Europa League football on offer – which makes them a less appealing prospect.
Blow for Spurs
That is a blow for Spurs, who surely would have loved to have added Laporte to their defence, if the possibility had arose.
Spurs have struggled to find a consistent pairing at the back, but before Dias arrived – Laporte was arguably City’s best defender.
And his arrival could have helped make Tottenham a fair more solid team next term.
