Newcastle United target Benjamin Sesko is reportedly tempted to sign for the northeast Premier League side following reports of the club’s interest in the RB Salzburg talent.

According to the Daily Mail, the Slovenian international could be tempted to sign for Newcastle following PIF’s takeover of the club, with Newcastle now the richest sports team in the world and capable of essentially signing anyone if the need is there.

With the Sun reporting that Salburg values their latest attacking wonderkid at £55m, Sesko could be Newcastle’s flagship signing for the summer should Eddie Howe’s side decide to make a move for the teenager, who is set for a breakout season with the Austrian giants.

This week has seen Sesko steal the headlines following links to Manchester United as well as dominating Liverpool in a pre-season friendly, with the striker scoring the only goal for Salzburg in a 1-0 win against Jurgen Klopp’s side, who they themselves are also reportedly interested in signing the Newcastle target.

Given his build and the club he plays for, links to Erling Haaland have already begun for Sesko, who could follow in the footsteps of the Norweigian goalscoring machine if he can hit the same levels of performance the 22-year-old managed during his time in Austria, and this could force Newcastle into signing the Slovenian talent.

Salzburg’s record for producing attacking talents is one of the best in Europe, and with Karim Adeyemi leaving for Borussia Dortmund this summer, Sesko looks set to become the club’s leading man in the frontline, and a full season of regular football is what the forward needs before Newcastle can even think about signing him.

Indeed, Sesko has largely been a squad player since joining Salzburg, and whilst the excitement around the striker is warranted, the 19-year-old still needs time to develop his game further, and Newcastle waiting could be fruitful should the Slovenian transform into a monstrous attacker in 12 months time.
