Kieran Gibbs is entering his final few months as a West Bromwich Albion player, with clubs in England and America weighing up summer bids for the experienced left-back, as reported by the Express and Star.
The former Arsenal defender might be one of the few players in Sam Allardyce’s squad with Premier League experience in his locker but, like Jake Livermore, Matt Phillips and Branislav Ivanovic, he has struggled to prove his worth since returning to the top flight.
Ageing and injury-prone, 31-year-old Gibbs has started just nine games in 2020/21.
Given that Conor Townsend was arguably West Brom’s finest performer during Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham, it seems unlikely that Gibbs will be back in Allardyce’s XI any time soon.
With his contract expiring in July, there is little justification, right now at least, for West Brom to extend his £55,000-a-week deal.
Gibbs is the club’s highest earner, according to Spotrac, and will be free to depart in the summer.

The Athletic believe that Inter Miami, David Beckham’s MLS newcomers, tried to sign the former England international in January, only for the deal to collapse due to a disagreement over finances.
There are, however, other as yet unnamed clubs on both sides of the Atlantic willing to offer Gibbs a fresh start when he becomes a free agent.
West Brom had considered Marcos Alonso as Gibbs’ replacement, but the Spaniard has since been handed a clean slate by Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea.
