West Bromwich Albion have joined Sheffield United in the race to hire Slavisa Jokanovic with former Watford sporting director Luke Dowling keen to reunite with the manager at the Hawthorns, as reported by The Star.
During his time in the Vicarage Road boardroom, Dowling found out first-hand just how good Jokanovic is.
It was the 52-year-old who guided Watford to promotion in 2014/15 after all.
And with West Brom looking to add even more credence to their ‘yo-yo club’ nickname and bounce back at the first time of asking, who better to replace Sam Allardyce than a man who also dragged Fulham back to the promised land in 2018?
According to reports coming out of Yorkshire today, West Brom have joined Sheffield United in pursuit of a promotion specialist who has his heart set on a return to Europe when his contract at Middle Eastern outfit Al-Gharafa expires.
The Blades opened talks with Jokanovic following May’s 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

The former Chelsea defender isn’t the only candidate for the Bramall Lane job, however, with Club Brugge boss Philippe Clement also in contention.

Remarkably, Clement has won each of the past three Jupiler League titles, securing domestic glory with Genk in 2019 before guiding Brugge to successive crowns.
Jokanovic, meanwhile, is expected to demand a contract worth £4 million a year, in line with the sort of figures he earns in Saudi Arabia.
