Erik ten Hag has jumped right to the top of Tottenham Hotspur’s shortlist to be their next manager, the Daily Mail report.
Ten Hag is currently in charge at Ajax and has apparently emerged as an option on Daniel Levy’s shortlist to be Tottenham’s next manager.
Levy does not want a long saga over Tottenham’s next manager, which may suggest that Ryan Mason won’t be in charge until the end of the season after all.
Instead, Levy apparently wants an appointment sorted shortly to ensure that whoever is the next Tottenham boss has a long time to work with his squad ahead of next campaign.
With Ten Hag’s contract at Ajax only having one year left there is a feeling that he could be available and he fits the mould of what Levy wants.
Tottenham, of course, broke Ten Hag’s heart back in 2019 when they beat his Ajax side in the Champions League semi-final.
After that game he labelled them a ‘amazing team’ (Futmob) and it is interesting to hear that the 51-year-old is now Tottenham’s favoured option.
It seems that both Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers were Spurs’ first two choices initially, but complications exist with landing either.

Ten Hag could be an appealing addition for Tottenham fans, who have been crying out for more attacking intent.
The Dutchman has promoted a possession based style which has been enthralling to watch during his time at Ajax.
When the Eredivisie side were at their best, back in 2019, they were extremely stylish and could pick teams apart with their technically adept players.
Tottenham’s squad is built with players who are confident on the ball in the final third, and the hope surely would be that Ten Hag could get the best out of players like Dele Alli and Steven Bergwijn, while continuing to help out Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son.
