The Manchester Evening News is reporting that Arsenal target John Stones is looking increasingly likely to leave Manchester City.

According to 90 Minutes, back in March, Arsenal have an interest in Stones and City are willing to sell.

The MEN now claim that Pep Guardiola’s team selection on Wednesday evening may have given further indication that Stones is edging closer to the exit.

The £50 million (BBC Sport) England international was not included in City’s match day squad to face Arsenal, despite being fit, with Eric Garcia favoured over him.

That rather sums up how badly this season has gone for Stones at the Etihad Stadium, with the 25-year-old slipping way down the pecking order.

Arsenal’s own need for defenders was highlighted on Wednesday, as they succumbed to a 3-0 defeat, with David Luiz having a torrid time.

A move to Arsenal could therefore benefit both Stones and Arsenal.

And the MEN have suggested that Stones’s departure has only become more likely after Guardiola’s latest snub.
