According to The Evening Standard, Said Benrahma will become West Ham’s third signing after a breakthrough between the forward and Brentford.
An issue between the Algerian’s agent and the Championship club momentarily put the transfer on ice.
However, that has now been resolved and The Evening Standard expect him to join Vladimir Coufal and Craig Dawson among the Hammers’ latest recruits.
The report states that £25 million will be paid upfront, with the total cost of the deal worth £30 million.
West Ham’s pursuit of the playmaker, who Brentford B’s assistant coach Sam Saunders told The Guardian ‘could nutmeg a mermaid’, was also impacted by Benrahma’s international commitments during the break.
The attacker – who Transfermarkt state stands at 1.72m (5 foot 6 inches) – is now back in London having appeared in Algeria’s 2-2 draw with Mexico, played in the Netherlands.
West Ham will be getting a fine player to compensate for the departures of Grady Diangana and Felipe Anderson.
Benrahma scored 17 goals and assisted ten more in the Championship last term, helping the Bees reach the Play-Off final where they were defeated by Fulham.
The deal looked in danger due to that aforementioned issue between his agent and Brentford, but now, it looks very much like the deal will happen if The Evening Standard are to be trusted.
