Tyler Roberts is set to stay at Leeds United this month despite interest from elsewhere, the Athletic report.
Wayne Rooney’s Derby County side are said to still maintain an interest in the Leeds forward, who has struggled for game time this season.
But Marcelo Bielsa does not want to lose the 21-year-old, and is intent on keeping him around at Elland Road.
Bielsa is said to be ‘sympathetic’ with Roberts over his lack of action, but the Leeds boss has no intention of loaning him out to gain more experience.
Leeds’ decision is likely to be the sensible one, as Roberts could still have an important role to play between now and the end of the season.
The £4 million Welsh international’s (Daily Mail) versatility means that he can cover across a number of positions, which makes him a very useful squad player.
With Leeds seemingly in need of freshening up, Roberts could also be used more frequently in the coming weeks.
Roberts does posses pace and with Leeds’ play so ponderous over recent weeks, he could be an option to inject some life into the Yorkshire side.
