Kamil Jozwiak is set to complete an “imminent” move to Derby County after being left out of Lech Poznan’s squad this weekend, according to Wyborcza.

It’s fair to say the president of the Polish football federation let the cat out of the bag a few days ago.

Eight months after Jozwiak saw a £2.5 million move to Pride Park fall through, the legendary Zbigniew Boniek pretty much confirmed the deal isn’t only back on – it’s all but done.

What’s more, the former Juventus and Roma star felt Jozwiak would be one of the bargains of the transfer window.

“Jozwiak will probably go to Derby County,” Boniek, arguably the finest Polish footballer of all time until a certain Munich-based centre-forward exploded on to the scene, told Pilkarskich.

“I think that if this player played for Lech for another year and played at the Euros (in 2021), he would go abroad for £25 million instead of £4 million to £5 million.”

Jozwiak, who has also been linked with the likes of Southampton and Werder Bremen in recent weeks, has already confirmed his desire to take a step up the footballing ladder and move abroad before the window slams shut on October 5 (Polsat).

And if Wyborcza is right, Phillip Cocu’s Derby have successfully fought off competition from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs with Jozwiak’s move to the East Midlands reported to be “imminent”.

The speedy winger, who produced nine goals and seven assists last season, was nowhere to be seen as Lech Poznan took on Slask Wroclaw on Saturday.

Deich Stube claims a deal would set Derby back £4 million.
