The Mail claim that Jesse Marsch suits Leeds United’s managerial budget as the club’s hierarchy continue to scour the market for Marcelo Bielsa’s replacement – in case the Argentine gaffer leaves Leeds in the summer.
Bielsa, 66, is coming under increasing pressure at Elland Road after the Whites conceded 10 goals in their last two games – the latter of which was a 6-0 defeat to Liverpool. Leeds are in the midst of a relegation fight.
Indeed, their leaky defence is a concern. They have conceded two more goals than they did in the entirety of last season – and still have 13 league games to play. It might be that Bielsa decides to leave, come the summer.
He remains out of contract due to his preference to work on a 12-month rolling deal. Marsch has been strongly linked, responding to a question from Jamie Carragher regarding the rumours of Leeds earlier this week.
Now, the Mail report that Marsch – who is without a club after leaving RB Leipzig earlier this season – aligns with the budget set aside at Leeds for their manager. The report states that Marsch is ‘available now’.
Leeds eye Marsch: American boss suits Whites for so many reasons
His Salzburg team were immense. They dictated possession as Bielsa tries to get his Leeds side to do, and they were incredibly based on attacking football – which improved their defence. Attack, is the best form, as they say.
But the San Francisco 49ers involvement at Leeds would certainly love to have an American gaffer – and it would also benefit the potential signing of Brenden Aaronson, a player Marsch signed at Salzburg. He seems perfect.
