LOSC Lille defender Sven Botman is reportedly set on joining AC Milan next season amid interest from Newcastle United and Tottenham in the January transfer window.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Dutch centre-back is open to a move to Italy with the Serie A giants willing to pay a large chunk of money to sign Botman this summer, with Milan also linked with the defender last month.

As per the report, Milan will be open to meeting the financial demands for the 22-year-old Lille star, who has again impressed this season in France, with Botman winning fans from the Premier League in the form of Newcastle and Tottenham.

According to the Athletic, the Toon were keen on signing Botman in January, with the player himself even believed to be open to a move to St. James Park, whilst the Telegraph reported that Tottenham were eyeing the centre-back to improve their defence who could cost as much as £46m.

With both Premier League clubs needing centre-backs this summer, Botman could have been the perfect off-season addition for Newcastle or Tottenham. However, it now looks like the Dutchman will be taking his talents to Milan for the next campaign.

Botman is seemingly set on a move to the Rossoneri, and with Milan now willing to put the cash up for the Lille defender, Newcastle and Tottenham could be left in the dust over the 22-year-old.

At 22, the former Ajax academy star has developed into one of Europe’s most exciting young defenders, which is what makes Botman’s pending move to Milan that much of a blow for Newcastle and Tottenham.

The centre-back has all the technical and physical skills to flourish in the Premier League, yet with Milan sticking to a philosophy of buying young players not yet at their full potential, Botman fills the bill for the Italian giants perfectly.
