It looks like Arsenal might not be too fussed about keeping Alexandre Lacazette in North London.

Lacazette stayed at the club this season after failing to secure a summer move away from the club in recent months.

But the 30-year-old is also now into the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

And ESPN has reported that Arsenal have not yet offered him a new deal.

The report also adds that there isn’t even an active conversation going on in regards to staying with the Gunners beyond next summer.

Should they keep him?

Honestly, keeping Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang makes no sense, no.

They have 62 years between them in terms of age and realistically, Edu will have to freshen up Arsenal’s striking options next summer.

The French hitman netted 17 goals in all competitions last season, which is a decent return but if you’re over 30 then maybe it is time for a change, yes.

That being said, Lacazette offers more than just goals, in the same way Roberto Firmino offers more than goals at Liverpool.

And Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s head coach, is a fan.

Earlier this year, the Spaniard described Lacazette as the ‘glue’ that holds his team together on the field, telling the club’s official website in April: “For me, in his style and in his development, even if he’s soon turning 30 years old, he’s on the right path because he’s very willing to learn. He’s doing things in a much better way than before.

“He really glues the team together and that’s a quality that is not easy for a striker. He’s got it.”

The former Lyon star joined the North Londoners under Arsene Wenger in 2017 for £46.5 million, according to BBC Sport.
