Alexandre Lacazette reminded Arsenal of his importance on Monday.
The French hitman came off the bench to score a last-gasp equaliser for Mikel Arteta’s side in the visit of Crystal Palace.
Lacazette spared Arsenal’s blushes in a major way, reiterating that he’s still a big player for the Gunners.
But the 30-year-old marksman is out of contract at the Emirates Stadium next summer and with no sign of a new deal on the horizon, he looks set to leave as things stand.
According to Calciomercato, Lacazette has been offered to Jose Mourinho’s Roma in Italy.
The former Lyon striker was linked with a move to Mourinho’s side during the summer transfer window but nothing materialised.
On a free, however, the Portuguese may well be tempted to take a punt on him next summer.
Should Arsenal keep him?
Honestly, probably not.
Yes Lacazette has a goal in him but remember, this is a £46 million goalscorer who Arsene Wenger brought to North London in 2017.
The fact that he’s being used primarily as an impact player these days is indicative of a bigger problem and honestly, he will want more for himself – and so he should.
But Arsenal should want more as well and with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also over 30, it’s time that Arteta – who described the France international as ‘phenomenal‘ only last month – and Edu look at long-term replacements.
