Spurs are said to be in talks with Barcelona over a loan-to-buy move for Malcom.

Spanish outlet Sport have claimed that although talks between Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur over a loan-to-buy deal for Malcom remain ongoing, the Spanish club have received a £44m bid for the Brazilian attacker.

The 21-year-old has been afforded just five La Liga appearances since joining the club from French outfit Bordeaux in the summer, where he scored 12 goals and created eight more in 38 games last term.

Spurs wanted to bring the uncapped winger to north London but were beaten to his signature by Barcelona, despite Ernesto Valverde’s side boasting the likes of Lionel Messi, Phillippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.

The move to the Nou Camp has not worked out for Malcom, and with Spurs struggling without the likes of Harry Kane – who is out for two months with an ankle injury – and Son Heung-min, they need attacking reinforcements.

The report states that the likelihood of Spurs signing Malcom is strong, but that Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande have made an enormous £44million bid to sign the pacy winger this month.

The fee is £7million more than what Barcelona paid Bordeaux for in the summer and will be difficult to turn down. Managed by Fabio Cannavaro, the club boast three Brazilians in Alan, Talisca and ex-Spurs midfielder Paulinho.

Spurs are not looking to sign Malcom permanently in this window though it is said a permanent clause will be included in a deal, suggesting Barca are keen to sell. That may see the Spanish side accept the £44million offer from Guangzhou.
