The Premier League is the preferred destination for Corentin Tolisso this summer, with Arsenal hoping to sign Bayern Munich’s £40 million World Cup winner according to Fussball Transfers.

Even before the global health crisis reared its ugly head, the Gunners were unlikely to back Mikel Arteta with the cash he needs to rebuild a mismatch squad during the upcoming transfer window.

The ongoing absence from Europe’s top table has hit Arsenal hard in the pocket. As a result, youngsters like Axel Disasi, Amad Traore and Emil Roback could be the order of the day rather than expensive big-names a la Dayot Upamecano or Arkadiusz Milik.

And a deal for Tolisso rests entirely on how much Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich will demand for their France international.

The former Lyon enforcer, who became FC Hollywood’s most expensive acquisition in the summer of 2017, is set to be sold after falling down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena.

Arsenal are interested and suggestions that Tolisso has his heart set on a move to England should be music to the ears of Arteta, Edu and co. Whether it is possible, however, is another matter altogether.

Tolisso still has two years left on his contract, so Bayern will not be forced to sell the box-to-box dynamo for a vastly reduced fee.

While his experience and winning mentality would no doubt make a big impact on and off the pitch at the Emirates, a worrying injury record might put the Gunners’ off investing so much of their summer budget in a man who is reported to be facing a further three months on the sidelines (BILD).
