Aston Villa defensive midfielder Douglas Luiz wants to compete a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal on the final day of the summer transfer window, according to The Independent.
Aston Villa want £40m for Arsenal target Douglas Luiz
The Independent have reported that Villa want £40 million as transfer fee from Premier League rivals Arsenal to sell Luiz on summer transfer deadline day
This comes after the Gunners made an initial bid of £20 million for the Brazil international.
Luiz is out of contract at Villa at the end of the season.
The report has claimed that ‘while there is considerable interest in Douglas Luiz, the 24-year-old’s main choice is now Arsenal’.

Could a transfer happen?
In our opinion, Arsenal could be able to sign Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, but they would have to pay more than the £20 million they are willing to.
Now, of course, with the midfielder out of contract at the Villans at the end of the season, it is hard to see the Gunners cough up £40 million in transfer fees now.
However, if Arsenal are willing to pay £30 million, then Villa could well cash in on the Brazilian, especially as he seems to be keen on a move to the Emirates Stadium.
