The saga involving Tanguy Ndombele rumbles on at Tottenham Hotspur.

The North Londoners are actively trying to offload the France international this month.

Paris Saint-Germain have emerged as a leading candidate to sign the midfielder, with Mauricio Pochettino having signed him for Tottenham back in 2019.

However, the former Lyon powerhouse has flopped in a major way following a club-record £63 million transfer and hasn’t even been making the squad on a regular basis since Antonio Conte arrived at Hotspur Way in November.

Ndombele clearly has no future at the Lilywhites and although chairman Daniel Levy seems willing to cut his losses, he doesn’t appear to be interested in a player-plus-cash arrangement.

The Ligue 1 outfit offered Leandro Paredes as a sweetner in an attempt to get Ndombele in a cut-price arrangement.

However, according to The Standard, Tottenham have rejected the chance to take Paredes in return.

The Argentina international cost PSG some £40 million a few years ago but he, like Ndombele, has struggled to fulfill his transfer fee in the French capital.

Levy is right

The Tottenham figure gets a bad rep quite a lot of the time – particularly on transfer-related matters – but on this occasion, Levy is spot-on.

Why would the North Londoners want a player who cannot get into Pochettino’s starting lineup on a regular basis?

Granted that there’s far greater competition in Paris with regards to places, but Tottenham, long term, want to be competing with the French outfit and taking their cast-offs, leaving millions on the table, isn’t going to get them there.
