It’s been a pretty mixed four-year spell for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at Liverpool.

Yes, he has won the Champions League and Premier League title since moving to Anfield in a £40 million deal from Arsenal.

But honestly, the player hasn’t been able to contribute all that much in Jurgen Klopp’s first XI these past few years.

The England international only managed to start two Premier League games last season, amounting to just 243 minutes in the top flight.

That right there ought to illustrate that despite being a big talent, things aren’t going well, but Klopp may be about to help him somewhat.

The Echo has reported that Oxlade-Chamberlain – who has spent almost his entire Liverpool career as a central midfielder – has been impressing the club’s coaching staff in more attacking roles in training.

The report adds that Klopp could even revert to using him as a wide forward, which was his primary position during a six-year spell in North London.

It’s a big summer for Oxlade-Chamberlain – who was used in a false nine role sparingly last term – and if he can stay fit, it could be a game-changing one, too.

Remember, Liverpool have just lost Georginio Wijnaldum and if Klopp doesn’t intend on using the former Southampton academy product there, with the Dutchman the reason why Oxlade-Chamberlain barely kicked a ball last season, it may well suggest that the Merseysiders are plotting to bring somebody else in in midfield.
