ESPN has suggested that Chelsea hitman Tammy Abraham may favour a return to Aston Villa over West Ham United.
Both Aston Villa and the Hammers have been linked with a move for the out-of-favour Stamford Bridge striker, who has 12 goals in all competitions this season.
Abraham hasn’t started a game for Chelsea since February, prompting speculation about a move away from West London.
And according to ESPN, Aston Villa may well have the jump over the likes of West Ham due to the player’s history.
Abraham enjoyed a season-long loan at Villa Park during the 2018-19 campaign and scored 26 Championship goals in helping Dean Smith’s side to Premier League promotion.
Smith absolutely needs another influential player in the dressing room.
Villa’s form has declined in the absence of Jack Grealish and although the England international isn’t a striker, he’s certainly the club’s best player.
Abraham clearly knows where the goal is and aside from Ollie Watkins, Aston Villa’s striking options are a tad suspect.
Smith has the likes of Wesley Moraes and Keinan Davis on the books, but Abraham, valued at £40 million, is a step up on both.
