A couple of English newspapers made a splash earlier in the summer by claiming that Arsenal legend Aaron Ramsey had been offered to Tottenham Hotspur.
According to The Sun and The Mirror in June, Juventus had asked Spurs if they were interested in signing the Wales international.
Ramsey left Arsenal on a Bosman last summer to join the Italian giants but, despite winning the Scudetto, things haven’t really gone to plan on an individual level.
Tottenham might well need somebody in the box-to-box mould amid doubts about whether Tanguy Ndombele will be sticking around after his disappointing first season in England.
But according to The Daily Mail, Ramsey wouldn’t even entertain the idea of joining Jose Mourinho’s side.
The report adds that it’s because of the ‘bad relations’ between the North London clubs.
If true, Ramsey might be an even bigger legend in the eyes of Arsenal supporters.
The former Cardiff City youngster, who earns £400,000 per week in Turin [BBC Sport], has scored winning goals in two of the Gunners’ last three FA Cup title victories that he played in, and also dedicated 11 years of service to those on the red half of the North London divide.
But if he turns down an exciting project at the Lilywhites to stay true to his roots then, well, it’s an act of loyalty that’ll warm the hearts among those who follow his former club.
