Amad Diallo would prefer a return to Sunderland if Manchester United send him out on loan again.

The Red Devils will make a decision on the youngster’s future in the next few weeks and he could return to Wearside if they decide to let him leave, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Diallo shone during his loan spell at Sunderland last season, bagging 14 goals as they reached the Championship play-offs.

Reports had claimed the Black Cats were eager to welcome the Ivorian back, however it is believed Diallo is hopeful at earning himself a chance in Manchester United’s first team set-up next season.

The likes of West Ham, Everton, Fulham and Burnley have all been linked with Diallo this summer, however Romano claims that the 20-year-old could snub a move to a Premier League club in favour of Sunderland – if he is sent back out on loan.

Amad Diallo will thrive off another loan spell at Sunderland

Amad Diallo‘s loan spell last season was arguably one of Sunderland’s best ever and nothing would make fans happier than to see him back on Wearside in August.

The midfielder is definitely a level above the Championship, however he is far off being able to shine for a club like Manchester United.

If Diallo stays at Old Trafford this season then he will be wasted on the bench and certainly won’t be able to make the impact that Erik ten Hag will require.

With the club spending a whopping £159 million on Antony and Jason Sancho over the last couple of years, it would be surprising to see Diallo handed a chance over the pair of them.

While the Ivory Coast international could impress for the clubs further down the table, another season with the fans that love him is surely impossible to reject.

Diallo could prove to be the key element to a second crack at promotion next season and he could then (reluctantly) return to United a much better player.
