AC Milan could swoop in ahead of Arsenal in the race to land Marc Roca, according to AS Sport.

Arsenal reportedly have already made an offer for the 23-year-old midfielder, but negotiations won’t take place between them and Espanyol until the end of the season.

AC Milan are now apparently hoping to take advantage and launch their now move for Roca.

The Spaniard has impressed in La Liga this term, where he has scored twice and claimed three assists.

Milan feel that he could enhance their midfield options now, but Arsenal are still said to be waiting in the wings.

Despite Mikel Arteta having a limited budget, reports in Spain suggest that Roca is one of his top targets.

Roca could present an alternative option to Thomas Partey for Arsenal, if the Atletico Madrid midfielder proves too expensive.

Arteta’s side are known to be on the hunt for a more disciplined defensive midfield and Roca has a release clause of £36 million (Sport), which could put him within Arsenal’s price-range.

If Roca was brought to Arsenal he would be in competition with the likes of Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka for a first-team place.
