The latest news relating to Ander Herrera’s reportedly upcoming move to Manchester United.
Ander Herrera yesterday told his current club Athletic Bilbao that he wanted to move to Manchester United, according to a report.
Spanish website Voz Populi claims the 24-year-old contacted his club president Josu Urrutia on Monday, informing him of his desire to move to Old Trafford.
The same report claims United later contacted Urrutia themselves, offering to pay €40million, which will be the player’s release-clause come the start of next month.
The latter move is somewhat surprising given his current clause is set at €36million, but it is being claimed the higher offer may have been to prevent similar complications to those that surrounded Javi Martinez’s transfer to Bayern Munich in 2012.
The report adds that Herrera’s agent believes there is no chance of another player being signed instead of the Spaniard, as was the case when Marouane Fellaini completed his move to United on deadline-day last summer despite claims a deal for Herrera was close.
The report concludes by repeating the claims of previous outlets, that Herrera will move to Old Trafford in a four-year deal worth around €3million a season.
