Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has told Roma that he will sign for them, according to Gazetta Italia.

Jose Mourinho has apparently made Xhaka his main priority to sign this summer, amid rumours that he could leave Arsenal.

And it seems that a move to Serie A would appeal to the Swiss midfielder.
It should be noted that Arsenal and Roma have not agreed terms over his sale yet, however.

The report claims a bid of around £20 million would be suffice to convince Arsenal to sell, but no offer has yet been submitted.

That puts some doubt over whether a deal would actually take place, but it seems that contract negotiations with Xhaka could take place quickly, after a verbal agreement has allegedly been reached.

The impact that will have an Arsenal is likely to be dictated by how well they recruit this summer.

Right now Xhaka is a key player for Arsenal, and arguably their second most prominent midfielder – behind Thomas Partey.

However, there is a feeling that Arsenal need significant upgrades in that area.

And if Arsenal can use the money from Xhaka’s potential sale to strengthen other parts of their side then selling him could turn into a clever move.
