Liverpool could still sign Shkodran Mustafi from Arsenal today, the Telegraph’s live blog suggests (09:04).
Liverpool are closing on in a deal to bring Ben Davies to the club from Preston North End, but the latest transfer update suggests that Michael Edwards is actually working on multiple deals.
And the Telegraph claim that Mustafi’s potential move from Arsenal to Anfield could still be alive.
The £35 million German (Sky) has been linked with a shock switch to Merseyside in recent weeks, but the chances of the transfer actually taking place were thought to have died off, when Liverpool opted to bring in Davies.
However, it seems that the Reds would be eager to bring in another central defender today – and Mustafi still remains a possibility.

If the 28-year-old was to arrive at Liverpool he would do so with a point to prove.
Mustafi has not always looked the most reliable defender in Arsenal’s backline, but he would offer Liverpool more experience than the likes of Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips, who have been forced to play there this season, due to injuries.
