According to Correio da Manhã, Porto playmaker Otávio is keen on a move to Liverpool, amid interest from the Reds, Valencia and Fiorentina.

What’s the story?

Well, the Portuguese news outlet claim that Otávio’s future at the Estádio do Dragão is still uncertain, despite his recent contract renewal.

That is because interest from Liverpool, Valencia and Fiorentina simply won’t go away.

Correio da Manhã believe Otávio’s release clause increased to €60 million (£51 million) after his new contract was finalised.

However, the Brazilian can be signed for €40 million (£34 million) before June ends.

It is said that Otávio is ‘most seduced’ by a move to Liverpool.

However, he isn’t totally against joining Valencia or Fiorentina.

The attacking midfielder is just more keen to join Jürgen Klopp’s side than any other club, if Correio da Manhã are to be trusted.

If Otávio leaves, Newcastle could be affected

Interestingly, Correio da Manhã reveal who Porto would like to sign if they do end up losing Otávio.

It is said that Newcastle’s Jacob Murphy will be targeted if the 26-year-old leaves Porto, in what is an intriguing development.

Whoever Porto sign to replace the South American will need to be good.

Otávio scored five goals and provided an impressive 12 assists in 42 appearances last season.

He also helped Porto reach the Champions League quarter-final, where they were knocked out by eventual winners Chelsea.

Otávio is also a leader. As Transfermarkt shows, he wore the captain’s armband on three occasions for Porto last season.

Could Klopp have another Philippe Coutinho if he signed Otávio?

Well, that remains to be seen. Keep your eyes on this saga.
