PSG defender Abdou Diallo has reportedly rejected the chance to sign for AC Milan just days after reports emerged that the centre-back was open to joining Aston Villa.
According to L’Equipe, the Senegal international turned down the opportunity to sign for the reigning Serie A champions with Diallo believed to not be convinced by the sporting project the Rossoneri have on offer, this is despite Milan winning the title last season for the first time in over a decade.
PSG are desperate to sell Diallo this summer with the defender deemed surplus to requirements by new manager Christophe Galtier, and recent reports have suggested that the 26-year-old is open to signing for Villa, with the centre-back keen to work under Steven Gerrard.
Villa are keen to sign another central defender this summer after new signing Diego Carlos was ruled out until 2023 after rupturing his ACL, and with Diallo now on the Villains’ radar and the PSG outcast rejecting an approach from European giants Milan, a deal could now be on the cards for the Premier League side.
With a reported price tag of £30m, PSG could reduce this fee in the final week of the transfer window as a final attempt to get Diallo off their books, and with Villa now seemingly leading the race to sign the former Borussia Dortmund star, Gerrard could soon be about to land a coup of a transfer.
Indeed, Diallo rejecting the chance to sign for Milan opens the door for Villa to move for the PSG defender in the coming days, and with the French giants eager to sell, a bargain could be agreed between the two sides that would see the centre-back move to the Premier League.

Not many players would turn down the chance to sign for Milan in the same week reports emerge that they’re linked with a move to Villa, yet Diallo appears to be the exception, and Gerrard’s side must now do all they can to sign the PSG defender before next week’s transfer deadline.
With Carlos out for some time, Villa need a quality defensive replacement if they’re to make a mark on the Premier League this season, and signing Diallo will do just that, though time is already running out for the Birmingham-based giants.
