Inter Milan have no plans to sell reported Liverpool and Arsenal target Nicolo Barella with the Serie A giants viewing their £30 million midfielder as an ‘unsellable asset’, according to Calciomercato.

Is there a player better suited to a Jurgen Klopp side than this tireless Italy international?

Barella boasts the work rate of James Milner, the versatility of Gini Wijnaldum, and the passing range of Jordan Henderson.

And, during Inter’s recent Champions League clash with Real Madrid, Barella produced a moment of magic any one of Jurgen Klopp’s title-winning heroes would be proud of.

You’re unlikely to see a better assist in Europe this season than the sublime back-heel volley that dissected Real’s defence and gifted Lautaro Martinez the simplest of finishes.

FCInterNews claims Liverpool and Premier League rivals Arsenal are watching developments closely but you get the feeling Antonio Conte would happily barricade the doors and windows at the San Siro if it meant keeping hold of Barella.

Not that things will need to go that far.

The 23-year-old is loving life in Milan and turned down Arsenal as recently as May.

Furthermore, he is expected to sign a new, £4 million-a-year contract, taking his weekly wage from £45,000 to £70,000.

Calciomercato adds that Barella is one of a chosen few Inter stars deemed ‘non-transferrable’, alongside the likes of Stefan de Vrij and Romelu Lukaku.

Liverpool and Arsenal appear to be barking up the wrong tree.
