Kamil Grosicki’s £30,000-a-week wages could prevent him joining Legia Warsaw from West Bromwich Albion, according to Gol24.
Well, the ‘clean slate’ didn’t stay clean for long.
A man who fell well down the pecking order under Slaven Bilic appeared to have been handed a fresh start when ‘Fireman’ Sam Allardyce steamed in to save the Baggies from relegation.
But, despite impressing in clashes with Wolves and West Ham, Grosicki’s revival was about as short-lived as West Brom’s ailing survival hopes.
Allardyce has made it clear that the former Hull City star is free to leave, especially with West Brom looking to raise funds for the arrival of free agent Ahmed Musa.
There are still two weeks left before the Polish transfer window slams shut and Legia Warsaw are keen to strike a bargain deal.
But, according to Gol24, the 32-year-old Grosicki would have to take a substantial pay cut if he wants to return to his Eastern European homeland. His current £30,000-a-week wages are just too rich for Legia.

“(A move) would be a win-win, both for Kamil and the club,” former Legia midfielder Jacek Kacprzak said.
“For Kamil, in the context of the national team and the Euros. He has to play somewhere. On the other hand, Legia, as we can see, has a problem in attack.”
Title-chasing Legia may be sitting pretty in second place, but a tally of 25 goals in 16 Ekstraklasa games means they are far from prolific.
Grosicki, meanwhile, knows that he is at risk of losing his place in Poland’s European Championship after a season out of favour at The Hawthorns.
