Jordan Amavi is expected to sign a new three-year contract at Marseille while rejecting the overtures of Premier League giants Arsenal, as reported by Le10 Sport.
While much focus has been placed on the Gunners’ search for a new number nine, a long-term Alex Lacazette replacement is not the only thing on Mikel Arteta’s summer wishlist.
The Arsenal boss made it clear a few weeks ago that a left-back – one capable of easing the crushing burden of expectation on Kieran Tierney – is an absolute must.
Finding one, however, is proving to be easier said than done.
Josh Doig has signed a new contract at Hibernian, Tyrick Mitchell is expected to do the same at Crystal Palace and it seems that Amavi has also decided to stay put.
The former Aston Villa flyer was expected to leave crisis-hit Marseille on a free transfer in July.
But, according to Le10 Sport, Amavi will instead commit his future to the French giants with a new deal that will tie him down until 2024; a major boost for Marseille but a blow to the hopes of Arsenal and fellow suitors AC Milan.

According to the Mail, Crystal Palace were also interested in the one-time Nantes youngster.
Amavi had recently rejected the chance to extend his £30,000-a-week deal at Marseille (Telegraph). But, with the madcap, mercurial Jorge Sampaoli settling into this hottest of hot seats, the future suddenly looks that little bit brighter under one of the game’s most influential tacticians.
