The Newcastle United manager is keen on adding to his options this winter.

Magpies boss Rafa Benitez deserves great credit for the manner in which he has gone about his business during his time in charge at St James’ Park, and although the Spaniard will be happy with his team’s start to the season, he still wants to bring in three new faces in January, according to the Chronicle.

Newcastle currently sit in eighth position in the Premier League table, and they can climb as high as sixth with a win at Burnley this afternoon.

Many fans and pundits had predicted that the Toon would struggle this season, with Mike Ashely and Rafa Benitez seemingly at odds over a variety of different issues.

Benitez has purely focused on his job, however, rather that allow outside influences to affect the way his team have performed.

And the Chronicle claim that the former Real Madrid boss is keen on strengthening his squad in January, reporting how he has told his scouts to target a number 10, a left-back and a striker.

Benitez already has a relatively strong group of players available to his disposal at St James’ Park, so if he does indeed manage to bring three new faces into the club in January, Newcastle really could kick on, and finally give their fans something to shout about.
