Aleksandar Boljevic is free to leave Standard Liege during the January transfer window with Championship rivals Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday interested, according to reports.

One of Belgium’s biggest clubs paid £2 million to sign the 25-year-old winger from Waasland Beveran in the summer of 2019.

But, after just 18 rather underwhelming months in Liege, Standard are ready to cut their losses already.

FootNews reports that Boljevic has admirers in England’s second tier, although neither Derby nor Sheffield Wednesday are yet to firm up their interest.

Het Nieuwsblad, meanwhile, claims that Standard Liege are looking to sell a number of out-of-favour players in order to raise funds for new signings.

Obbi Oulare, a former Belgium U21 striker who Watford once paid £6 million for, could also be heading to England with a free-wheeling Barnsley side.

Valerien Ismael’s dark horses made a loan-to-buy bid last week, although both clubs are yet to come to an agreement.

Boljevic, meanwhile, has been left out of the squad during each of Standard’s last seven league fixtures. But a versatile wideman who scored six times last season could, in theory, add some firepower to one of the Championship’s most profligate sides.

Derby are the league’s lowest scorers with just 14 – one less than Wednesday.
