Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim that Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon is a surprise name on a six-man left-back shortlist compiled by Barcelona. Of course, Reguilon came through the Real Madrid’s academy.
Regulion, 25, has been in and out of the Tottenham side this season – largely due to injury, and the rejuvenated form of Ryan Sessegnon of late. Last time out, Matt Doherty impressed as a makeshift left-back with both sidelined.
Football London say Real Madrid have buyback clause of £43million this summer. But El Clasico rivals Barcelona have now added the Spain star to their shortlist – along with five others. Celta Vigo’s Javi Galan is an option.
Valencia’s Jose Gaya, Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo, Leipzig and ex-Manchester City man Angelino and Ajax’s Argentina international Nicolas Tagliafico are also targets. Reguilon played 22 times for Madrid before joining Spurs.
Barcelona eye Reguilon: Tottenham star will surely not be tempted
A player to have come through Madrid’s academy, clocked up more than 60 appearances for Madrid’s Castilla side and then 22 at senior level. Surely, he will not be considering a move to the Nou Camp in the coming months.
Especially, given Spurs will hardly consider a fee below the release clause that Madrid have in place for Reguilon. If Spurs do sign a left wing-back in the next few months, then perhaps they will reduce said asking price.
