According to Fabrizio Romano, Lyon now want to take Giovani Lo Celso away from Tottenham to replace Newcastle target Bruno Guimaraes.
What’s the story?
Well, Newcastle are close to wrapping up a £33.3m deal for Guimaraes, as personal terms have been agreed with the Brazilian maestro (Guardian).
Now, to replace one of their most important players, Lyon are monitoring Lo Celso’s situation at Tottenham.
Spurs are open to letting the £27.2m man leave north London, but Romano believes they want a loan fee, as well as 100% of his wages covered.
That could prove to be problematic, as Lo Celso earns £70,000-a-week.
Nevertheless, Lyon have shortlisted the Argentina international, who is far from a key player under Antonio Conte.
Since the Italian replaced Nuno Espirito Santo, Lo Celso has played just 42 minutes of Premier League football.
In that respect, we can’t imagine Conte would put up much of a fight to keep him at Hotspur Way.
Newcastle should shop at Tottenham next

Ignoring Lyon for a second, we feel Newcastle’s next shopping trip should be at Tottenham, with Dele Alli up for grabs.
The England international is in a similar boat to Lo Celso under Conte, having made just three Premier League appearances under the ex-Chelsea boss.
According to 90min, Newcastle are in talks with Spurs over a deal for Alli, and we feel the Magpies should push hard to get it done.

The 25-year-old has endured a horrible time at Tottenham since Mauricio Pochettino was sacked by Daniel Levy.
Nuno, Jose Mourinho and Conte have struggled to get the best out of him, so we feel it’s time for a change of scenery.
In our view, it would be a gamble from the Magpies, but if Howe can get the old Alli back, Newcastle would have a fantastic chance of survival.
