Rangers are prepared to pay the asking price for Bongani Zungu of Amiens, according to the Scotsman.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has been eyeing up a midfielder since the campaign finished, as he wants to add more depth to his attacking ranks for next season.

And it seems that Rangers are closing in on making an addition, with Zungu edging towards a move to Ibrox.

Rangers are believed to be willing to pay £3.7 million to land Zungu, who could arrive in Glasgow in the near future, with the two sides now in discussions over his signature.

Zungu is believed to want to play for Rangers, so getting the deal over the line should not prove too problematic now.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a solid season in France with Amiens this term, where he has played 21 times in the top division.

Zungu has provided a decent shield to Amiens’ defence, and should bolster Rangers’ options for next season.

If Zungu does join Rangers he will be in competition with the likes of Glen Kamara, Steven Davis and Ryan Jack for a first-team spot.
