Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was not present at Ryan Mason’s first training session yesterday, the London Evening Standard report.

Kane limped off in Tottenham’s last game against Everton, sparking fears that he could be sidelined again with an ankle injury.

The news was not promising for Spurs fans on Monday, as Kane was not in training.

Tottenham’s session was pushed back to the afternoon following Jose Mourinho’s sacking, with interim boss Mason taking charge for the first time.

But Kane was not there to join his teammates, leading to concerns that he could miss Spurs’ game with Southampton tomorrow.

The bigger worry for Tottenham fans is that Kane could be out of the League Cup final against Manchester City at the weekend.

The Evening Standard does not confirm whether the striker will be fit, but his involvement has to be in some doubt now.

If Kane does miss out it will be a major blow for Tottenham, given his importance to the team.

Kane is obviously Spurs’ major goal threat, and given they are unlikely to create ample chances against City, they will need to be ruthless when opportunity presents itself.

If Tottenham can win it will be their first major trophy since 2008.
