Liverpool players are due back at Melwood to resume training today.
The Premier League is allowing top-flight English clubs to begin returning to their bases from this morning onward.
The global health crisis has suspended football in England since the first week in March.
But the Liverpool players, who have a 25-point lead at the top of the Premier League but haven’t been crowned champions yet, will be back at Melwood as they look to prepare for a potential return of the 2019-20 campaign.
One man who won’t be training alongside his team-mates is Loris Karius.
The German goalkeeper terminated his loan agreement with Besiktas in recent months and returned to his parent club.
But according to The Liverpool Echo, the 26-year-old, who hasn’t made a senior competitive appearance for the Reds since his disastrous Champions League final appearance two years ago, cannot register for this season as it hasn’t been cancelled and therefore isn’t permitted to train.
Between Alisson and Adrian, there’s no room for Karius in Jurgen Klopp’s squad any longer anyway.
His career on Merseyside died the same day that he arguably cost the Anfield club their sixth Champions League title, which they won a year later.
