Nikola Milenkovic is open to signing a new contract with Fiorentina despite interest from West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, according to Calciomercato.

The Serbian has entered the final year of his current deal at the Artemio Franchi Stadium and has so far rejected the Serie A side’s offers to extend his terms. Milenkovic believes Fiorentina’s previous offer fell short of what he is worth after four-years at the club.

Milenkovic has made it clear to Fiorentina for some time that their offers were insufficient. He also wants to explore a new challenge amid interest from England, while Juventus are yet to advance their pursuit. The Turin outfit are, however, keeping close tabs on him.

Fiorentina know they risk losing Milenkovic for free next year if they do not improve the terms of their proposal. But, instead of tabling a new offer for the 23-year-old, they are looking to sell if they receive the right bid.

La Viola would demand between €25-30m (£21.5-£26m) to sell the centre-back. Which should be no problem for West Ham, who Juve Live claim are readying a £26m offer. But the Irons will have to overcome interest from Tottenham to seal a deal.

Fiorentina specialists Viola News claim Tottenham have overtaken West Ham in the transfer race after holding talks for Milenkovic. But Spurs are yet to make an offer for the 28-cap enforcer, who could yet stay in Italy.

Calciomercato believe Milenkovic would consider signing a new contract with Fiorentina, as long as they make a more satisfactory offer. He has been a mainstay at the Artemio Franchi Stadium since joining from Partizan Belgrade in 2017, and long could it continue.

West Ham and Tottenham must speed up Milenkovic pursuits

West Ham and Tottenham will have to speed up their pursuits if either are to sign Milenkovic from Fiorentina this summer. He was a new challenge, and the Premier League can provide that, but both seemingly risk missing out.

Milenkovic would offer either West Ham or Tottenham a very promising option for their respective defences next season if signed. He is only 23 but the £25,000-per-week enforcer is already a leader of men and a tricky customer to beat.

No wonder Fiorentina managers handed him the captain’s armband at times last season. Including in a Coppa Italia showdown with Inter Milan, the would-be Serie A champions.
