Franck Kessie to Tottenham Hotspur is a transfer that’s going to run and run, despite the window having closed this week.

The AC Milan midfielder was linked with a move to Spurs during the summer but nothing materialised.

According to Calciomercato in midweek, Tottenham are ready to offer Kessie a contract ahead of his Milan deal expiring next summer.

And according to another report from Italy, that’s more likely now.

Gazzetta Dello Sport have reported that the 24-year-old has just rejected the San Siro club’s latest attempt to tie him down to a new deal.

Which means as things stand, he is still leaving next summer and will be free to negotiate with clubs from January onward.

How much?

Milan’s latest contract offer included a salary of around £5.6 million a year – or £107,000 per week.

Interestingly, the offer Tottenham reportedly have tabled is for £134,615-a-week.

The Lilywhites haven’t quite blown Milan out of the water, because their offer is only more by £30,000 per week.

But it has to be said that Fabio Paratici, Spurs’ managing director, has shown more interest in signing the player than Milan have shown in trying to keep him.

And that’s the right kind of message to send to a player you want at your club.
