Dani Ceballos played a part in his own move back to Arsenal, as he told Mikel Arteta that he wanted to be at the Emirates Stadium this season, the Telegraph report.

Ceballos is set to move to Arsenal in the near future, with the Spaniard about to join the Gunners on loan for the season again.

Ceballos had returned to Real Madrid at the end of last season and even began training with the La Liga side in pre-season.

However, he failed to build much of a relationship with Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane and then spoke to Arteta about returning.

It seems that he informed that Arsenal boss that a move would appeal to him, and that helped to convince the Gunners to bring him back.

Ceballos’ return should be a boost to Arsenal’s chances next season, as he proved his worth to the club towards the back end of last term.

Ceballos finished the season strongly in midfield with Granit Xhaka and Arsenal will be hoping that he can pick up where he left off on his return.
