Trabzonspor’s highly-rated goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir has been in the news for about a year now.
The Turkish shot stopper is regarded to be among the best in his home country and it is only a matter of time before he makes a move to one of Europe’s top five leagues.
Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton were all linked with a move for Cakir (TMW) while Newcastle United are the latest English team who are said to be interested in £25 million rated goalkeeper. (HaberTS)
However, it looks like Cakir isn’t going to join a Premier League club after all. Sporx have claimed today that the 24-year-old prefers a move to Sevilla over one to Liverpool or Tottenham this summer.
Liverpool won’t necessarily be too dejected with the news but it might sting Tottenham a bit.
Spurs’ Hugo Lloris will turn 34 later this year and it is time that they find a successor to his throne.

Paulo Gazzaniga has done a decent job in Lloris’ absence but he is not the long-term answer if Spurs want to be at the top end of the Premier League table.
A move to Sevilla makes sense for Cakir as well. The Turk will likely be the first-choice there immediately, something that he will have to wait for if he moves to England this summer.
Spurs will have to look elsewhere now that Cakir is reportedly heading to Spain but the current financial climate might just force them to push their plans until next summer.
