Well, it looks like the pull of Steven Gerrard is about to land Rangers a new signing this summer.

The 40-year-old’s stock is at an all-time high in terms of his managerial career after guiding Rangers – 20 points clear of Celtic – to a first Scottish Premiership title since 2011 this season.

Under Gerrard, the future at Ibrox is looking very bright indeed and if rumours are believed, one player wants in on the project.

According to The Record, Rangers are ‘closing in’ on a deal to sign Oostende marksman Fashion Sakala.

The 24-year-old Zambian striker will reportedly snub interest from Ligue 1 side Lille to join the light Blues because of two factors – Gerrard’s presence at Ibrox and the possibility of Champions League football.

According to Transfermarkt, Sakala, who is out of contract in June, has 13 goals and three assists in 28 games across all competitions for the Belgian outfit this season.

There’s a lot of forward players on the blue half of the Old Firm divide as it is, but Sakala can also play out wide and it’ll be interesting to see where Gerrard plans on squeezing him in.
