Marseille defender Duje Caleta-Car is said to be ‘devastated’ that he is not a Liverpool player today, by the Daily Mail.
Liverpool made a move to sign the central defender from Marseille yesterday, but the French club opted to keep their 24-year-old centre-back in the end, as they couldn’t find a replacement.
That meant that Caleta-Car’s proposed move to Liverpool fell through at the last minute, with Jurgen Klopp’s side moving for Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak instead.
Caleta-Car’s chances of a move to Anfield may now be over for the foreseeable future, with Liverpool seemingly having more expensive targets in mind for the summer.
And he is said to be absolutely gutted that the move didn’t go through.
Will Liverpool be as disappointed?
Caleta-Car could actually have been a strong addition for Liverpool, as his form for Marseille has been impressive.

But Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards are likely to be happy with the Reds’ deadline day business, even after failing to land him.
Liverpool have significantly strengthened at the back, with Klopp’s centre-back options now looking far more plentiful than at the start of the week.
Liverpool’s deadline day business was extremely positive, and even with Joel Matip now out for the season, they look better covered in defence than they were 24 hours ago.
It is true that both Davies and Kabak will be making big steps up at Anfield, but Caleta-Car would have been too.
And Klopp will surely be delighted with his side’s last minute business, even if it has caused disappointment for Caleta-Car.
