Liverpool have reportedly taken a big, big step toward securing their first summer signing.
According to The Independent, the newly-crowned Premier League champions are set to sign Olympiakos left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas.
The report adds that Liverpool will only be paying some £11.75 million for the Greece international – who has three caps for his country – and he’ll sign a five-year deal.
If it happens, Tsimikas, who will fly into Merseyside early over the coming days for his medical, will be a back-up option to Andy Robertson.
This might be a pretty big clue with regards to Liverpool’s transfer policy.
Having won the Champions League and Premier League within 13 months of each other, Jurgen Klopp doesn’t need major reinforcements.
In fact, Takumi Minamino is the biggest name to join the Reds since their Champions League success of 2019, with Klopp only adding young players and goalkeeper Adrian last summer.
And the potential signing of Tsimikas might indicate that there’ll be more of the same for the German in this regard.
The Anfield club clearly don’t need to break their transfer record because, well, there isn’t many players who can improve this Liverpool squad.
