FC Cincinnati target Kyle Scott has changed his agent in order to seal a move away from Newcastle United after missing out on a move to Swansea City, as reported by the Chronicle.
The Magpies looked to have pulled off a real coup two years ago when Scott, one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in English football at the time, swapped Chelsea for Tyneside.
Flash forward to early-2021 however and the Bath-born starlet is on the verge of bringing a forgettable spell at Newcastle to an early end.
Speaking to the Chronicle recently, Scott was left bemoaning a serious groin injury which ruined his debut season in the north east. And, after failing to make a single first-team appearance under Steve Bruce, all the signs suggest that his Newcastle career is over before it ever really begun.
Scott, whose contract is due to expire in the summer, has joined forces with a new agent.
The USA youth star looks destined to end up on the other side of the Atlantic too, with Jaap Stam’s FC Cincinnati expected to tie up a deal.
The MLS newcomers have also paid a club-record £13 million to sign Brazilian sensation Brenner from Sao Paulo and, in Stam, they have a coach who has admired Scott from afar for some time.
The former Manchester United defender tried to sign the midfielder during his time at Reading too.
Interestingly, Scott came close to joining Championship promotion-chasers Swansea last month too, although it remains a mystery why a move to South Wales fell through.
