Tottenham Hotspur’s Serge Aurier is now increasingly likely to stay with Jose Mourinho’s side, the Telegraph suggest.
When the transfer window opened it looked almost certain that Aurier would leave, with the London Evening Standard saying that Mourinho had sanctioned his departure.
However, the Ivorian could now be kept around to provide competition to Matt Doherty at Tottenham.
Although Aurier may not start as regularly as last season, he could be a valuable squad player, with Mourinho’s side competing across multiple competitions.
Tottenham qualified for the Europa League group stages last night, which means that they are likely to have a gruelling fixture list at least up until the new year.
Aurier has already proven his worth, as he put in an excellent display against Chelsea in the League Cup on Tuesday.

And while the £22 million Ivorian (Evening Standard) may not be the most reliable defender, it seems that he could now be kept around at Spurs, to ensure that Tottenham have good cover at right-back.
Mourinho has actually been chasing defenders for much of the summer so far, but he is now said to be satisfied with Spurs’s backline and even if no new additions arrive before deadline day, he feels he has the tools required to have a successful season.
