Manchester City talent Callum Doyle was reportedly watched by 22 top scouts earlier in the year, with the defender currently playing a starring role for Sunderland out on loan.
According to the Telegraph, 22 representatives were in attendance for Sunderland’s 4-0 win against Crewe Alexandria in October, with Doyle keeping a clean sheet for the Black Cats as well as claiming an assist.
The League One side currently sit third in the division and tonight face Arsenal in the quarter-final of the League Cup, where Lee Johnson’s side will be eager to claim a massive scalp.
And Doyle will likely be a part of the XI. The 18-year-old centre-back has played 25 games for Sunderland this season with the City loanee becoming a crucial clog for the northeast giants.
Indeed, the young defender has been excellent for Sunderland this campaign, with Johnson claiming that Doyle is the best passer in League One following his opening day debut for the club against Wigan Athletic.
The Sunderland boss said via the Chronicle: “His passing ability is already, in my opinion, the best in the division.”
Sunderland loan could lay groundwork for career with City for Doyle

After a few years, City’s academy is now producing some truly exciting talents, with Doyle just one of the players currently out on loan and having their first taste of senior football. And the 18-year-old is progressing well with Sunderland.
Not many would have predicted the teenager to flourish as much as he has with the League One side. However, Doyle’s development and form for Sunderland could lay the foundations for a brilliant career in the top-flight, and maybe even with City in the next few years.
