According to El Espanyol, Newcastle are Isco’s most likely destination if he is to secure a move away from Real Madrid in January.

What’s the story?

Well, after Amanda Staveley and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) took over the Magpies, deals like this have become possible.

Normally, a side languishing 19th in the Premier League would have no chance of signing a four-time Champions League winner earning £211,000-a-week.

However, thanks to PIF’s net worth of £320bn, anything is possible.

El Espanyol believe Newcastle represent Isco’s last ‘big chance’ at a move this season, before he becomes a free agent in June.

So far this season, the 29-year-old has made just two starts in La Liga under Carlo Ancelotti – he is, without question, surplus to requirements at Real Madrid.

Should Newcastle sign Isco?

Now, it sounds strange to say, but this is a tough one.

Isco is a tremendous player, who was among the best footballers on the planet at one stage during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu.

His stunning efforts even led to Real Madrid inserting a £592.5m release clause in his contract extension back in 2017.

However, we haven’t seen that Isco for a while now.

If Eddie Howe spends some of his budget to sign the 38-cap Spain international in January and he struggles, the Toon Army may question why the Magpies didn’t wait until June, when he’d be available for free.

It’s a difficult one, although if Newcastle can help Isco rediscover his form of old, they could get themselves a bargain next month.
