Newcastle United target Josh King is set to be allowed to leave Bournemouth, according to the Daily Mail.
The Telegraph claimed recently Newcastle want to sign King from Bournemouth this summer. The Northern Echo then said that Steve Bruce had made contact with the south coast club, over signing the striker this week.
The Cherries relegation from the Premier League has seen a number of their players targeted by top flight clubs, but new Bournemouth boss Jason Tindall insisted last night that the club’s best talents wouldn’t be poached.
“If the club said there is going to be a fire sale and “you’re going to end up losing eight or nine players I wouldn’t be sitting in this seat,” he said to the Mail.
However, despite Tindall’s defiance, it seems that King could be granted a move to Newcastle – if Steve Bruce’s side make an acceptable offer.
King has just one year left on his contract at Bournemouth, and the south coast club don’t want to risk losing him on a free transfer, with the player currently valued at £20 million according to the Telegraph.
If King was to join Newcastle he would add some much needed goalscoring threat to their front-line.
The pacy attacker would also fit in well with Bruce’s system, as his speed would make Newcastle an even bigger threat on the counter attack.
King actually suffered a disappointing campaign last term, where he only contributed with six goals, but he still managed to outscore all of Newcastle’s forwards.
And there is a feeling that King could be a solid signing for the Magpies, as he has previously proven to be a potent scorer at Premier League level.
