Thiago Alcantara has proven worth the wait for Liverpool – when he has played, that is.

In both of the Spaniard’s Premier League appearances, he has looked majestic and an absolute steal for the £20 million that the Reds eventually paid for him in the summer.

But the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona midfielder has been absent since that Richarlison injury suffered in the Merseyside derby with Everton two months ago.

Updates have few and far between but there’s good and bad news from The Sunday World.

According to the outlet, the 29-year-old could be back in full training for Liverpool two weeks from now.

The bad news is that Jurgen Klopp’s side have four more Premier League games in that time and if that two-week date is accurate, the reigning champions will have him absent for the full Christmas schedule.

Another piece of good news is that after tonight’s visit of Spurs, Liverpool have games against Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and West Brom to close out the month of December – all very winnable matches, even without Thiago.
